Read-a-thon
June 7 - July 27
The children who participated in the read-a-thon voted to choose
the recipient organization:
St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital
http://www.stjude.org
Twenty children participated in the read-a-thon. They raised
$787.86 for St. Jude's. Many thanks to all of our sponsors! A representative from St. Jude's
visited with the kids to explain how their money will be used to help children without
health insurance.
Jennifer Donatelli from the N.C. Gazette came to our celebration and wrote about the read-a-thon
and the peace quilt project.

"I had a lot of fun reading this summer. It made it worth it to be able to help St. Jude's and read at the same time. I really enjoyed reading the 6th book of the Harry Potter series. It was really good. Also, I equally liked the Big Book of Boy Stuff because it has so much interesting information and fun games and activities. The other books were also very good."

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was really long so instead of telling you what it was about I'll tell you a part that I liked. I liked when Harry and Dumbledore went into the cave to find the Horcrux.
