April 2004
On April 17th, the 6-9 group and 9-12 group held the inaugural Cheverly Kids Care Club event at the Bladensburg Waterfront Cleanup.

May 2004
The 4-6 year old group of the Cheverly Kids Care Club held its first event in May, giving children an opportunity to celebrate springtime and seniors of the community.

June 2004
All Cheverly Kids Care Club age groups worked together to raise over $200 via a Great American Bake Sale on Cheverly Day, June 12.

The 9-12 group passed out water to runners at the Cheverly Day Cicada Crunch 5K Run, which benefits Breast Cancer Research.

July 2004
The 9-12 group helped to stuff envelopes for the SIDS walk to be held in September.

August 2004
Many Cheverly Kids Care Club swam in the SIDS swimathon on August 22nd.

September 2004
Many Cheverly Kids Care Club walked in the SIDS walkathon on September 12th.

On September 23rd the 6-9 group gathered to pack over 100 Sleepy Snack Sacks.

October 2004
On October 3rd the 6-9 group and their siblings held a party at the Shepard's Cove shelter for women and children.

December 2004
On December 20th the whole club brought stockings for kids and gift bags for women to the Shepard's Cove women and children's shelter.

February 2005
We had a very successful event focusing on animals for the first time, with a project benefiting stray animals.

In honor of Valentine's Day, Cheverly Kids Care Club designated February Random Acts of Kindness month.

March 2005
We participated in an environmental cleanup at Lower Beaverdam Park right here in Cheverly!

April 2005
Many of us participated in the Bladensburg Waterfront Cleanup, for the 2nd year and once again had glorious weather and a day filled with hard work and a great feeling of accomplishment.

Sixteen kids ages 3-9 attended a wonderful peace-building workshop We are working on some follow-up activities.

May 2005
The older kids (ages 9-17) have written and produced and acted in a Public Service Announcement about the danger of guns to children. The project has been a great success; filming occurred on May 14. More details (and hopefully a screening of the ad) coming soon!

I had hoped we'd be able to do a project for the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary during May, but my family has been too busy for me to organize it. I'll work on the project planning over the summer and hope for an event in the early Fall.

June 2005
Cheverly Kids Care Club will be involved with assisting with the Fun Run and the Midway Booths on Cheverly Day.

The Kids Care Club will have a table on Cheverly Day, raising funds and awareness for the PG County Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. We will also promote our club and the upcoming Read-a-thon.

July 2005
June 23 - July 27 we held a read-a-thon to benefit a charity selected by the participants.

The SIDS Swimathon was held on Thursday, July 21st at the Cheverly Pool.

August 2005
Kids in the club created a quilt to be a part of the Children's Cloth of Many Colors, which was displayed on the lawn of the Capitol building on September 12th.

September 2005
Kids Care Club supported the 2005 SIDS walk on Sunday, September 11th at Buddy Attick State Park in Greenbelt.
